TODAY'S 🎙SHOW: Douglas Tuman interviews Ben Biedermann, a Digital ID expert.

The two discuss the concept building of a decentralized digital ID system on top of Monero outside of the traditional State ID system that preserves privacy & why it’s important for the private market to build its own digital IDs that can compete with the government ones,

They also discuss XMR Bazaar, the Monero marketplace that Douglas is building, would implementing Digital IDs into the marketplace be beneficial and what would the technological implementation be? Why Monero is a better suited platform for building a digital identity system on top of other chains, and finally, is the Monero ethos compatible with decentralized digital IDs .

@monerotalk did:xmr requires downloading the blockchain to perform the verification, right? So it's not lightweight. Also I found the github repo but there is not much info: https://github.com/benedictvscriticus/did-xmr/tree/main/2023-06-Monerokon. Has any progress been made since the presentation at Monerokon?

That being said, I like the idea of selective disclosure and I might even put this DID method to practical use if it will be properly specified.

Privacy would be easier without IDs.
Please don't tell me there will be more bloat on the chain like last time with Mordinals...
