Summary

Global diabetes rates have doubled over the past 30 years, rising from 7% of adults in 1990 to 14% in 2022, according to a Lancet study.

This surge, especially in developing countries, has brought the total number of people with diabetes to 800 million.

The study highlights a widening treatment gap, with 60% of diabetics (445 million people) lacking access to care. Untreated diabetes can lead to severe complications, including heart disease and vision loss.

Low-income countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, are most affected by inadequate treatment access.

Air pollution has now been linked to the increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes.

My conspiracy theory is that all food companies just added more sugar to their recipes to get people addicted and keep them coming back for more.

Its not a conspiracy, it's the truth - and it was pushed by tobacco companies.
