Friend said let's meet at 1. I ask her if she's sure. She says yes. It's 1:46 and I'm still waiting for her. I knew I should've arrived at 2. She waited a million years for a bus so she didn't have to walk, when she could've walked. Grr.

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 3 points 34 minutes ago

Did she have the courtesy to say that she'll be late?

Think it's a bit rude as well making you wait due to walking/bus thing.

[-] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 points 24 minutes ago

Yep she said she was still in bed when I arrived.

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 2 points 15 minutes ago

Hm still not great.

Hopefully it's not a consistent thing that happens all the time.

[-] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 1 points 12 minutes ago

It is but this is the worst it has been. I'm not waiting anymore

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 1 points 1 minute ago

Since you're out already treat yourself out to something?

[-] Nath@aussie.zone 2 points 8 minutes ago

"Another time, then"

Meeting her anyway sends the signal that you're fine with being such a low priority in her world. And she'll have no incentive to alter her behaviour next time.

[-] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 2 points 12 minutes ago

Does she wear tight/fashionable/high heeled shoes? Was I wearing such, I'd wait a million years for a bus rather than walk and cripple myself. If, on the other hand, she wears comfy shoes - that's a different dynamic.

[-] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 1 points 11 minutes ago

She's wearing sneakers right now. Just too "lazy" to walk. I hate calling people lazy but she takes pride in it.

interesting development at work. Boss asked some common sense questions, leadership team didn't really have answers. Looks like things may not be as doom and gloom as we originally thought, so thats awesome. I don't love the company but I do love the boss and they'll pay to upskill my unqualified ass so thats worth something.

Just want to say thank you all again for the support yesterday. Truly a supportive space here with great advice. After going into the eye and ear today for a follow up her schedule has reduced which means less refusal and it's going to be a bit easier for her.

I think RR forgot to mention the custard with that pudding.

[-] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 51 minutes ago

Isn't custard just a given?

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 41 minutes ago

In my household it is.

General manager is resigning.

Big blow. He's one of the reasons I like it here.

Goddamn it.

[-] just_kitten@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Oh damn. Too soon, feels like you've just barely started! Any chance you can follow him to where he's going?

Something odd happened last week.

He reached out to offer some mentoring because he felt that maybe it would help, which I agreed to.

He must have known he was leaving last week already. Curious to see what this will be about.

[-] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 3 points 56 minutes ago

so your still meeting before he leaves? interesting.

I think you'll find you don't need mentoring. From what I heard your project management experience was second to none. all your skills in fact. Glowing report really.

[-] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 points 33 minutes ago

A very glowing report!

Yeah I'm super curious to see what this is about. I don't think he's being asked to do it, I think he was offering because he's a good dude.

I'll keep you posted. First meeting is Friday.

[-] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 8 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Ohhh fuckity.

Boss: How do you feel youโ€™re going?

Me: Iโ€™m planning on resigning in 2 weeks.

Boss: โ€ฆ can you not?

[-] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 4 points 2 hours ago

you: Sure if you change [x, y, z that's making you leave]!

[-] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 5 points 2 hours ago

He's going to discuss with the directors about sidestepping me into another role, I'm not well suited for the one my original role grew into. I'll see what they offer, but I think it'll be adios for me.

[-] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

Hope it works out well whichever way it goes ๐Ÿค—

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 2 hours ago

I've been complimented on my mug today.

Gave me a nice little laugh.

OK. I might do some tv and movie stuff . I just look at random stuff or maybe watch what other people talk about.

The Package aka The Pakige with Gene Hackman. Before Die Hard there was The Package but without the jokes or impressive action scenes. 2 hobbits.

All Is Lost. If self reliance really was a thing then there would no such thing as outside people or events messing up life. Robert Redford was amazing in this.

3.5 hobbits just to watch RR

kevin can go fuck himself

I am reminded of Henry Miller writing of another author, the author writing of a man cut in slices, different aspects of the man and their life written as separate stories. Much like his nexus trilogy. Maybe he was talking about himself, eh.

or the verve singing their bittersweet symphony , being a million different people each day

edgy brave smart woman sick of stupid men tries to fight the system

but really, how many chances do stupid abusive men deserve? dumping them is not giving up, it's being real and cutting losses

this show had real potential, wasn't renewed

[-] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

I liked Kevin Can Fuck Himself, it shows a really interesting perspective. I haven't watched the type of show they're making fun of in a long time - is Kevin exaggerated or are sitcom husbands really that bad?

[-] just_kitten@aussie.zone 5 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Tyre change booked in for 2pm. Condition report to be dropped off. Cleaning this arvo.

At work for half a day because I have so much overdue but also it's a nice bit of familiarity and stability amidst everything

Living off sheer adrenaline, yeah!!! I think I'll need to take an afternoon dose of meds today...

I'm pretty sure that chocolate used to coat Oreo Dunkeds is tastier than regular cadbury chocolate.

[-] mysticgreg@aussie.zone 6 points 5 hours ago

Here's hoping today is less of a fustercluck than yesterday was, but early signs are that it could go either way from here. Time to adjust my attitude and hope for the best...

(Also to all who went to Pearl Jam last night I am SO JEALOUS!!!) :D

[-] StudChud@aussie.zone 5 points 5 hours ago

I've never been so seedy in my life

[-] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago

Two day hangover? Ouchies.

[-] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 5 hours ago

Well, Spring is a great time to be seedy. You will grow and flower in no time.
