Why dis wind sooo cool on such a lovely day?

Been asked like 3 x if I’m going riding, but I have my sooky pants on.

[-] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 13 points 2 hours ago

Finished work early and.. just didn't feel like going home straight away. So I'm having a cheeky can of alco ginger beer in a part of a local park not frequented by children and their company or youths (I dislike drinking around children and will actively avoid it). Might have an extra can too. Because fuck it, that's why!

I am so freaking pleased to hear you’re taking some time for YOU!! You are such an amazing soul, carrying so much for your family, good on you for enjoying a moment!

"Today the children pretended to eat the vegetables and say "yumm!"" You know what daycare, I will give you 500 bucks if that was actually the case! Given i watched tinyest pick out a fleck of zucchini from a casserole and when I asked him if he was gonna eat it he looked me dead in the eyes and said "Nooo".

[-] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 points 8 minutes ago

Tbh zucchini is a low tier vegie.

(I planted it because it makes a lot of food.)

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 1 hour ago

I was really lucky, Miss Seagoon was pretty easy, only when older she developed likes and dislikes. No capsicum, no pumpkin and no no onion. I solved it by first, not making any drama at all if she didn't want something, she could leave it on her plate. And then when older letting her serve herself, that way there were no arguments

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 29 minutes ago

My kid was the same. Ate every vegetable. Still eats every vegetable except spring onion. From a very early age, around the table, we discussed the benefits of each veg (every veg is a Super food) and the fact vegetables give you good poo poos. Never had to hide them. Never separate meals.

I had a more tough love approach. You don't have to eat them but you'll go to bed hungry. Was that bullying? Probably yes. Does my kid have a problem with food? Not in the slightest.

[-] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 3 points 1 hour ago

Yep. Feels. Inserting vegetables into small kids is a thankless task. Thank god(s) for meatloaf - and a food processor for pureeing suspicious items into unidentifiable goo. I am eternally grateful that homemade tomato sauce also contains an adequate quantity of vegetables.

Both my boys went through a 'vegetables are poisonous' stage, which was mercifully brief but hoo boy it was hard to cope with at the time!

I think the only reason my kid eats vegetables now is from peer group pressure at childcare, lol. No idea how they got the other kids there to eat them, though

I also became an expert at hiding extra veggies in things like bolognaise sauce

It's only a day for International men

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 hours ago

Just want to say thank you all again for the support yesterday. Truly a supportive space here with great advice. After going into the eye and ear today for a follow up her schedule has reduced which means less refusal and it's going to be a bit easier for her.

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 hours ago

good news , I'm still sending all my "power wishes" 😣 so she will get better soon

[-] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 9 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

interesting development at work. Boss asked some common sense questions, leadership team didn't really have answers. Looks like things may not be as doom and gloom as we originally thought, so thats awesome. I don't love the company but I do love the boss and they'll pay to upskill my unqualified ass so thats worth something.

[-] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 6 points 4 hours ago

Friend said let's meet at 1. I ask her if she's sure. She says yes. It's 1:46 and I'm still waiting for her. I knew I should've arrived at 2. She waited a million years for a bus so she didn't have to walk, when she could've walked. Grr.

[-] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

I had to step away from a friendship yesterday for a similar reason.

It feels bad today, but I'm glad I did it because I don't want to be the kind of person who is OK with that behaviour.

This person doesn't value your time and that's a pretty big red flag.

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago

late 🀨

i detest lateness when it is a choice that person makes

[-] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 1 points 15 minutes ago

She goes to sleep anywhere between 1 and 6am and wakes up maybe 12pm. I asked her if 1 was okay and she said yes. Clearly it wasn't!

[-] tone212_@aussie.zone 6 points 3 hours ago

I am a sometimes late person (a trait I don't really like but actively trying to improve) but being THAT late is insulting. You have to value other people's time.

[-] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 4 points 4 hours ago

Does she wear tight/fashionable/high heeled shoes? Was I wearing such, I'd wait a million years for a bus rather than walk and cripple myself. If, on the other hand, she wears comfy shoes - that's a different dynamic.

[-] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 points 4 hours ago

She's wearing sneakers right now. Just too "lazy" to walk. I hate calling people lazy but she takes pride in it.

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

i have fam who don't call it lazy, they think they are being smart

[-] dumblederp@aussie.zone 3 points 3 hours ago

People who take pride in being lazy don't make good friends.
