"what breed is your cat?"

"he's a stupid asshole is what he is, i love him"

[-] Misconduct@startrek.website 64 points 1 year ago

My cat's breeds are whatever breed of cat you find in dumpsters and car engines 🙃

[-] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 31 points 1 year ago

Standard American Shorthair.

Bonus points if it's a foundling or feral you just fed until it adopted you.

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 18 points 1 year ago

a foundling

The shapeshifters from DS9?

[-] kartonrealista@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I was thinking Mandalorian

[-] v4ld1z@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 year ago

Damn, FromSoft skipped right over DS 4-8 to go straight for DS9. How is it?

[-] doingthestuff@lemmy.world 56 points 1 year ago

I'm among the many who have a Standard Issue Cat.

[-] Misconduct@startrek.website 13 points 1 year ago

The common dumpster cat, if you will 🧐

[-] doingthestuff@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Yeah we found ours as an older kitten living in the wall of our detached garage, she was pretty feral. It might as well have been a dumpster. Ten years later she's a sweetheart. But she's addicted to catnip treats. I'm an enabler.

There's something wrong with your cat's face but I think they're cute

[-] kamenlady@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

Looks like a very gentle best boi

[-] CoderKat@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago

I think that breed is known as "cutie".

[-] hazardous_area@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago

Looks like it has some lab in it

[-] boeman@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Wow, such a cute pup. Really looks similar to the old guy I lost a few months ago..

[-] zepheriths@lemmy.world 43 points 1 year ago

No way did you put shlatt there

[-] RogueBanana@lemmy.zip 34 points 1 year ago

I am no dog owner but who the hell would think thats a husky

[-] siberianlaika@lemm.ee 14 points 1 year ago

You'd be surprised how many people call all wolf-ish primitive breeds 'huskies'. Everyone in my neighbourhood thinks my dog (profile pic) is a Siberian husky, though it's more understandable since she's a related Siberian breed.

[-] Kovari@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 year ago

I've had someone ask me if my corgi was a husky before. Um. No??

[-] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

How much drugs and/or alcohol were involved?

A wojak with a troll mask, it seems

[-] jmcs@discuss.tchncs.de 30 points 1 year ago

Why would a cat's servant care about the breed?

[-] ssfckdt@mastodon.cloud 7 points 1 year ago

To know how best to address their majesty

[-] jmcs@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 1 year ago

Peasants don't need to know the name of the reigning dynasty they only need to know who's in charge.

[-] ssfckdt@mastodon.cloud 26 points 1 year ago

The only breeds people mention are ones that are notoriously annoying. Persian, Siamese, Sphinx.

Everything else is based on appearance... tabby, calico, mackerel, "maine coon" (which is often used to describe cats that *aren't* maine coon)

[-] zepheriths@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Persians are well known for being one of the more friendly breeds. I can't confirm because my family doesn't believe in getting pure breeds

[-] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago

Hey my cat has a genetic mutation that makes him cold all the time in our canadian climate

Cool, lets breed more of them!

[-] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Maine Coons are super cute though. Just saying.

[-] Donjuanme@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Chantilly Tiffany, which is every long haired black cat.

[-] irmoz@reddthat.com 2 points 1 year ago

Dog breeds are also just appearance tbf

[-] ssfckdt@mastodon.cloud 5 points 1 year ago

@irmoz Not really, they're also temperament *and* biological conditions -- like, in many cases, detrimental susceptibility to things like cancer, cataracts, or bone disease. See: Golden retriever

[-] Trainguyrom@reddthat.com 2 points 1 year ago

Tortoiseshells are known for having "tortitude" but aren't really their own breed, its really just a description of their coat

[-] Seasoned_Greetings@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

"American short-hair" covers a surprisingly large number of "breeds" that people think are out there.

[-] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 year ago

What breed is that? Garfield

[-] Donjuanme@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

Isn't that a Samoyed? Or Sammy, or smiling Sam?

[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago

Yea, i'm pretty sure that is a Samoyed, while the cat is an Orange Tabby. You can identify tabbies by the 'M' on their forehead! :D

[-] boeman@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

What does the M stand for?

Honestly? No idea, it's been years since i learned that little fact

Millie, my ex gf’s cat

[-] FQQD@feddit.de 6 points 1 year ago

its the orange shlatt-cat (also known as: the shlat)

[-] Seraph@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

The single brain cell variety.
