IIRC the devs said they were taking a break due to burnout a while ago.
Ohh, that’s explain it. I do understand it though, continuous development takes a toll on mind and body.
I’d hope the developer will return eventually though!
I support anyone dealing with burnout. A long commute and a demanding job destroyed me a handful of years ago. I’m talking major depression and thoughts of suicide. No job is worth that.
Rest up, Memmy devs! Your health is more important. I’m still enjoying the app on iPhone and iPad.
Absolutely this. I am really enjoying Memmy and I hope the devs understand that we appreciate the work that’s been done so far! I hope they can continue to improve it without damaging their mental health… but if they can’t I hope they take the break they need to :). Memmy is great, but it is not worth them feeling guilty over and going through burnout and depression over. I really wish them the best.
I agree they should take as much time as they need. In the meantime I’ve been trying out Voyager and I find it to be slightly more stable.
Yeah Voyager is amazing. Still not 100% perfect but it’s the closest of all the (iOS) apps I’m aware of.
After trying Voyager to replace Memmy, I’ve ultimately been using Thunder on iOS. I’d change a few things, but I ain’t complaining.
If you had asked last week, I’d say seemed like it did. But two days ago gkasdorf made some commits, so it’s probably still alive, they just took a break.
I had left a review on the App Store warning users that Memmy is still broken for any instance that uses late v18 or any v19. The dev responded that they would issue a fix soon.
Still, since I needed something that works, I tried a few of the many Lemmy apps. Voyager is nice, but Avelon is the only app that stays in portrait while I scroll lying down, so that’s what I’m using presently.
