Wefwef really positively surprises me. It clearly draw heavy inspiration from Apollo but in a good way

[-] nxlemmy@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 year ago

I hope it comes to the app stores soon i like it a lot

[-] caglel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

It’s pwa app. I have a doubt about it’s coming to store as a native app.

(alt since Xylight@lemmy.xylight.dev has not federated this community yet)

dev of Photon here, how tf did it get here? i don't think i've ever posted a link, where the heck did it come from

[-] rist097@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I do a search on github from time to time and add projects that have a build ready. Great work!

[-] Xylight@lemmy.xylight.dev 2 points 1 year ago

Interesting. Well, pleased to be part of this list!

Liftoff doesn't seem to be a macOS client, though?

[-] rist097@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Well there are instructions for IOS on github. But I know nothing about IOS to verify

[-] Obra@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Not sure what you mean, I’m talking about macOS, not iOS.

[-] rist097@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

True, I mistaken the Iphone OS. Yes there is nothing for MacOS, I will remove it, thanks.

Lemminator is a web UI that aims to make Lemmy more approachable for a broad non-technical audience. It can be hosted by Lemmy instance owners, and Lemmy.world users can use https://lemminator.netlify.app/.

Thanks for this! Keeping track of them all is getting overwhelming, or at least for me it is.

I'm really loving Wefwef. It's SO MUCH like Apollo!

[-] Euca@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 1 year ago

Does anyone know of an app that checks the following requirements?

  1. Has an equivalent Reddit app (I think Boost and Sync are examples of this?)

  2. It can remember where you left off even if you close the app. Suppose I'm browsing the top of all time of a particular sub and I want to keep going later just where I left it. Is this something possible with apps or only with mobile browsers?

  3. Doesn't have issues playing both videos and gifs.

[-] uthredii@programming.dev 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks for the list. I don't want to go through the effort of installing from github so am just trying the web apps for now.

Wefwef is really good so far!

[-] ruud@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe good to mention that Jerboa currently only works on 0.18 servers, which aren't too many yet.

[-] freshfieldreds@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Can you please add muffed for lemmy

Lemmy on android has an estimated 177k installs.

[-] jcb2016@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Boost looks so good!

Thanks, I'll put a link to this post in the Getting Started post.

[-] jackpot@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

lemming github link broke

[-] theNoob@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Great list. I'm favouring Connect right now, closely followed by LiftOff. Jerboa is now having problems logging me into instances and Lemmur looks good but won't connect at all for me :(. Wefwef & Summit look like they need more work for me

[-] GalaxyGamer@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 year ago

Lemmur is deprecated and liftoff is the current fork of it

[-] theNoob@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I like Liftoff a lot. I hadn't twigged that about Lemmur, there's too many apps for me to keep track :)

Lemmynade not available on iOS yet. Looking forward to ares.

[-] rist097@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks, removed Lemmynade from IOS

[-] PaladinOfGlitter@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago

The Liftoff app has changed its TestFlight account - I couldn't get the TestFlight links currently posted to work, so I assume they aren't current. If you click their community's link, it'll say where they are now. I would link it.. but I haven't figured out how to do that yet lol.

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.world -5 points 1 year ago

Why the obsession with apps? Apps are pushed by companies because they can show ads regardless of installed ad blockers and because they can harvest more data about you to sell to advertisers. Because of this they've been progressively making the mobile web worse for years now to force people onto their apps.

But it doesn't need to be that way. Mobile websites can operate just as effectively as mobile apps and I think this website is a great example of that. I for one would love not having to click "no, I don't want to open your website in your stupid app, that's why I opened it in my browser" every time I visit a website on my phone. It used to be that way. I'd love to see it that way again, and this site is a step in the right direction.

[-] Noedel@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

The website is literally unusable on 0.17. It's loading sooo many random posts and everything keeps moving around.

I wouldn't be here without apps. Can't wait for 0.18.1 though.
