One of the founders of the website, God, is back

Damn, that's some divine providence!
Glad they had a happy ending

I mean we’ve all been looking for signs of the apocalypse lately, right? Can’t be coincidence.

[-] uninvitedguest@lemmy.ca 31 points 1 year ago

Well, thanks to FileList I finally managed to catch an open signup at TorrentLeech.

[-] petrescatraian@libranet.de 14 points 1 year ago

@uninvitedguest Now you can really call yourself a Torrent Leech, haha!

Can someone explain to me why you use private trackers? Is it because of the possibility to request older stuff etc? Would love to know the advantages compared to torrentgalaxy for example

[-] skankhunt42@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 year ago

I THINK the idea is you don't need a VPN with a private tracker. Other then that, the selection is usually better, and the seeders have faster uploads.

[-] 21racecar12@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago

You should always use a VPN, doesn’t matter if the tracker is public or private. And yes, better selection, seeding requirements, and better speeds.

[-] lemann@lemmy.one 9 points 1 year ago

All of what this person said!

I still use public trackers though, mainly because I want my seeds to actually benefit others, not fill up some arbitrary private tracker counter.

Faster and more reliable seeders, better opsec, better uploads (due to stricter rules), wider variety of content, and better community features. There's more but that's what immediately comes to mind for me.

Apologies for my ignorance, but can someone tell me what file list is or where i can find more information?

[-] petrescatraian@libranet.de 10 points 1 year ago

@MoshBit Sure. Filelist is a (mostly) Romanian private tracker (the website is available in English as well, though). It is also kinda hugely popular here (pretty much the most popular Romanian torrent website altogether). A couple of days ago, the admin announced that due to personal issues and being unable to find a replacement, the website would shut down. Now a solution was found.

Private torrent tracker. Invite only, to my knowledge.

[-] three@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago

lmfao any sane person that's been on private trackers won't give invites to randoms. that's how you get banned.

[-] maeries@feddit.de 6 points 1 year ago

Title sounds like it shut down half way and then stopped there

[-] Hackerpunk1@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago

Does someone has a spare invite to share? Thanks in Advance

[-] Why9@lemmy.world -2 points 1 year ago

What's FileList? Why does it need invites?
