If the CEO of say, Apple, went to China and got kidnapped to be used as a bargaining chip the US would literally be arming Nukes.

Canada was unique in following Trump’s demand, because seven other countries had refused to kidnap Wanzhou for the US.

Canada only is not part of the US because it couldn't pull shit like that otherwise. It's effectively a puppet state.

Read about the 2 Michaels here (Two Michaels), they were spies China arrested to counter Meng's arrest and one of them sued the Canadian government and that was eventually settled for $7 million.
