I think you can disable it in add-ons.

Thing is, I disabled it, received an update and it was enabled again.
Then disable it again, perhaps restart, restart in safe mode. Can’t you remove it altogether? Like with other add-ons? And in about:config?
@PlasticFrog it's not an add on, it's a new feature. Let's see if this time it remains disabled ;)
Oh apologies, but you can in general set some hard changes in the about:config section of firefox.
But hope it’s sorted for you now. :-)

When you hit a page that's not in your ff language a popup from the browser appears suggesting to translate. Cool feature, but the popup doesn't allow me to just disable it be default
