This is terribly unrealistic. Trump can't run.

[-] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 72 points 1 year ago

Nor has the GOP gotten anything together.

[-] Digestive_Biscuit@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 year ago

I couldn't figure out if it was Trump or Boris. I suppose either works.

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

Plus the GOP welcomes him into the shop. They physically picked him up and placed him in the middle of the shop.

Because the GOP has their house in order above from the trump problem.

In German it's the elephant who can't peacefully exist in a china shop lol

(Ein Elefant im Porzellanladen)

More apropos in America, eh?

From an outside perspective Trump was a shit show.

I don't really care about your internal politics, but what I can say is that he had a massive impact on America's credibility in the world. If you can just leave and rejoin the Paris climate agreement or unilaterally end the Iran nuclear oversight program, why should anyone really trust you on anything?

Joe Biden did a lot to repair this loss in trust, but it's hard work and will take longer than one presidential period. Much longer than it took to damage your credibility in the world.

What’s being referenced is that the symbol of Trump’s party is an elephant. They’re the ones who basically set all this up. The other party holds to treaties they don’t like and such

[-] Turun@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks. I know that in theory, but didn't make the connection.

Makes a lot of sense in that sketch.

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

You speak to one that emigrated as a result of what Trump did to America, so I have no quarrel with you about that. I am just amused by the German version with elephants in China shops since the Republican icon is an elephant.

[-] Turun@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

Ah, makes sense. I didn't make that connection even though I am aware of the donkey and elephant symbolism.

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Some find me unnecessarily oblique, don't worry about it

[-] magnetosphere@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

I (an American) was thinking a similar thing. What’s the point of treaties and agreements if all it takes is one asshole President to say “nah, we’re not doing that”?

[-] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I don't think anyone ever trusted the US with anything, with or without Trump. However the US are unavoidable, so we have to work with them.

Macht den Witz eigentlich sogar noch besser.

This meme made me Google whether they elected a new House Republican speaker. They have not.

[-] WarmSoda@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago

There's a horse. In the hospital!

[-] DaMonsterKnees@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Oooooo double entendre. I like it. Don't break that China!

[-] Delphia@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

The genie is a bitch to get back into the bottle isnt it.

[-] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

The poop doesn't go back into the asshole.

[-] HerbalGamer@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Not with that attitude!

[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

I can't remember which Republican senator - the old turtle or the closeted bottom - that said something like "if we elect Trump we will be destroyed".
