Example of a user not being able to see posts because of incorrect language settings configuration: https://feddit.org/post/8656952

This has been fixed in version 0.19.9, but if your instance is running an older version that that, make sure to check that in your account language settings (the checklist, not the interface language):

  • all the languages you speak are selected (for instance, Undetermined and English)
  • or that you don't have anything selected (in that case, you are going to see all the languages)

Selecting a language is done by Ctrl + Click on a desktop

Where can I find the checklist in the app? I've been looking everywhere for about an hour but really can't find it.

Oh so, to my knowledge this has to be done on PC, it looks like this:

But wait, this comment is not tagged in Dutch, were you able to make the changes?

I now have selected undetermined, english, french, German and Dutch. Should I delete undetermined? I've used the browser on my phone, and found it right away :) thanks

No no, keep Undetermined, most of the stuff is not tagged, so if you unselect it, you won't see most of the content!

Welcome, sorry for the confusion, I wish you a good time on Lemmy!

Why Ctrl + Click? Why not checkboxes?

Youre welcome to make a pull request to improve the design. Unfortunately lemmy-ui doesnt have many contributors.

Dev decision I would say. Do you want to ping them to ask?

@nutomic@lemmy.ml

I think checkboxes would be a much more intuitive interface for selecting languages than Ctrl + Click. Is there a rationale behind this design decision?
