Every subreddit that is banned needs to be recreated on Lemmy out of principle. Unless it's gonna get our guy sued.
News and Discussions about Reddit
Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rules
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.
It's a real shame. There is a treasure trove of information on there for niche topics, and years of researching problems and questions etc. It really sucks that it's gotten to this point.
They have really unleashed the hounds recently it seems. I wonder how long before they start banning NSFW content.
They floated the idea of charging for access to certain subs a while back. They're gonna paywall the porn.
Have you all read 1984? First they will make thing illegal. Then they will hide away what is illegal. After that someone will learn something was illegal. Once they are found out, that illegal thing will be completely changed so there is no evidence anything was illegal to begin with.
I would not be shocked if try to scrub these bans so users can’t see if a community was banned.
Being a reddit user is like being in an abusive relationship.
Ironic - Palpatine
Well, then.
Now I just need a good way to scrub my account before deleting it. Any suggestions?
Might have been your post that brought me to Lemmy, too. Saw lots of folks saying they got warnings for Luigi/other content I am interested in, and decided I am out, too.
Will spend a couple weeks encouraging people in some of my niche communities, and then no more reddit.
I just got my 3 day ban under bullshit reasons. Reddit is now a place of tyranny and fascism.
Another day, another reason to be happy we're here instead of there.
P.S. I've been here since November and I've definitely seen an increase in users since then.
Question: is there such a thing as an "True Neutral" Lemmy instance that federates with everything by default?
When you have to appease the share holders to make the most money, you need to dissuade everyone from exercising free speech they could inhibit shareholders from getting ad revenue from Nazi companies that support Nazi Reddit.
Aaron Swartz must he rolling in his grave to see how the open and free internet he co-owned and designed is now a corporate circle jerk cuck fest hell bent on sucking off Trump and the other oligarchs.
For anyone that still has a reddit account, if you have any good community subreddits, tell them to relocate to Lemmy :)
I am so close to deleting Reddit too, among all other American services I’ve been canceling since the beginning of the new year.
