So YouTube is not working again. I've tried PipePipe just to make sure I hadn't borked it on my side, but it didn't work either.

On the great side, PeerTube is still working great.

If anyone know how to get back on track, I'd love to know about it.

I have quit yt completely because of incidents like these. Who can guarantee that one day google won't decide to close down all open acces alltogether?

But thats not a practical option. Youtube is very useful for education and entertainment. An all in one option for me.

Try to update the app.

NewPipe still working on my side and on their GitHub page there isn't any new Issue related to be broken again.

However, YouTube is doing a lot of AB testing these months... Trying to kill alternatives. Keep an eye on their GitHub.

Meanwhile, try to narrow down the issue:

  • Try to log what's happening in the backend with ADB.
  • Log your DNS records with something like rethinkDNS or PCAPdroid
  • Check your Firewall rules on your phone
  • Clear cache and data -> reboot
  • Try to reinstall your app
  • ...

If you're talking about self-hosted piped instance... Yeah they are a bit broken right now.

Thank you for your thorough answer. I'm feeling it's the AB testing. The issue went away by itself, and now it's back again. Both NewPipe and PipePipe. It's just yt video anyway.
