I want ANC so powerful it blocks out my intrusive thoughts

ANC + podcasts should do the trick!

What if my intrusive thoughts have their own podcast?

And they're sponsored by HelloFresh and SquareSpace?

[–] JWBananas@startrek.website 10 points 2 years ago

Maybe they should look into being sponsored by BetterHelp.

Actually, forget ANC. Get some of that Automatic Brainwave Cancellation

This tech seems cool for people who may need it, or even just for fitness or other things.

But if Google is behind using the data to whatever money purpose (like selling ads), it becomes a bit bad.

Tho they would already do so with watches or other health tech connecting to their services. So 🀷. If people have already choose a Google product for health, it doesn't change much, it's just another cool tech to the collection.

Eh, with health tracking you opt into it, with this it may be opt out. Google's been caught in the past not properly anonymizing location information which it sells to advertisers. I could easily see us finding out in a few years that insurance providers are buying "ad data" to get realtime heart rate and steps information without consent.

they also were illegally tracking users' location and aggregating that data to build their map's traffic data. wouldn't put it past them to do it without user knowledge or consent and use it

I wonder if this tech could come to other ANC headphones, or if Google will keep this proprietary.

Jabra had earbuds with heart rate monitoring at least 5 years ago. I assumed this is how they did it.
