On a technical side, The Freedom-Scholar Shelter is a website, or better saying a BBS (kind of), where you can find scientific articles, blog posts, a chatroom, a radio station to be listening to, downloadable files and utilities, and much more.
In a more social sense, The Freedom-Scholar Shelter is an on-line place for researchers and, in general, for people who seriously cares about freedom in computing, science, and society. So, if you're not interested in these topics, this is possibly going to be not your thing.
Put it simple, The Freedom-Scholar Shelter is meant to be a unique, independent, open, and lovely place where people can meet and be discussing about computer science, science in general, and society. Plus, if you are into PhD ᒡ◯ᵔ◯ᒢ, you can share useful information with other PhD students, experiences, and resources, but also make jokes and friends—in short, spend some funny times together.
