Wait so you just need to attend the classes to get a master's?

I'm more surprised that they awarded it without charging him for it. They don't mind giving you one whether you attend or not, as long as you ~~pay~~ go into debt for it.

Yeah, that was a part of it. You can likely go to your local university and just attend lectures for free. I never had my ID checked or anything like that when I was attending school. It was suggested that it might happen when a class was full to the point where people were standing, but even in those cases it never ended up happening. So you could attend all the classes of a master's program without paying a dime. Even in small classes, a lot of profs either won't care or will even be happy to have others attend as long as they aren't causing disruptions or taking up too much time with questions.

They aren't really selling knowledge, they're selling the piece of paper. The knowledge is free, the paper "proof" costs.

I imagine it challenging to know about classes when you're not in university. I went to classes that had nothing to do with the subject I was studying but I had access to the schedule of a lectures university wide. Now I don't have that access anymore

I recall a professor rating site also having the current year's schedules uploaded. I believe the intent was to help people pick high rated profs that fit their own schedule. The information is likely out there somewhere for each school.

Seriously. What I’m sure they though was a cute story to get into the news really exposes the low bar to graduating

The human in this case is actually less qualified because not only can the dog match his master's degree they also have 5-7 years of on the job experience full time + overtime.

Doing his job while attending class

[-] SgtAStrawberry@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe thay van sell themselves in as a package deal. The dog has more experience and the same education, but if you want to hire them, you have to hire me too.

Ruffles didn't get a diploma.

Ruffles was a bad boy who had worms.

See, this is what I'm talking about with the devaluation of a degree.

When you let just any mutt get one, it's unfair to those dogs that worked for it.

/s, obviously.
