The Pike Series are mini-albums that Buckethead began releasing rapidly in 2011, usually around 30 minutes in length.
Over a basic backing track in a MacBook, yeah.

The 99 I mentioned were just FROM THIS YEAR! Dude is absolutely insane!

Pulse Ultra. One album. Absolutely fantastic. I'm sad and glad we've never gotten more.... but what is out is perfect. So maybe a second album would've not been as good.

Not something I was aware of. Most people I talk to haven't heard of them.
Metal is huge as a genre but it somehow still flies under the radar. 90% of people I meet have no clue about metal at all.

Earth is great to listen to if you're trying to read or write and just need to block out other noise. Apparently the guy behind the band was roommates with Curt Cobain.
I love me some Warkings! Their stuff is consistently fun.
Dylan Carlson, frontman of Earth, actually gave Kurt the shotgun. He was convinced someone was gonna do a Lennon on Kurt.

I'm a big fan of The Score, but they aren't a metal band
If throw out The Necromancers, though not sure if their obscure.
Aether Realm is one of the best current melodic death metal bands and no one can convince me otherwise.
I've really been enjoying Faux Fiction. I haven't disliked a single one of their songs. They are more indie/rock than metal, but still goes hard.
