Sometimes it's really hard to figure out if I'm actually suffering from persistent depressive disorder, or if I'm just smart enough to know how fucked everything is.

Those aren’t mutually exclusive. And if you do suffer dysthymia, you can also have smaller individual bouts of depression on top of your long wave of depression.

In both cases you can't change the environment to change your mindset (the world or your neurochemistry). If you struggle there is help!

It's not a a disorder if depression is a logical reaction to your environment (I tell myself)

You can silence the yellow dude with this simple formula: x = fucked. Can I change how fucked everything is? Yes, do what you can and stop worrying. If not, stop worrying. It does not make you weak or complying. You have a right to be happy. You decide where the bar is. Don't let anyone rob you of your happiness.

Keeping current on what your government is going to do to you and your family is a good thing.

Engaging with reality despite the burnout is healthy.

The fact that observable reality makes us all depressed is what we need to be focusing on, not avoiding reality.
