FreeCAD will at least respond to you. It might want you to interpret its mystical signals to decipher what it wants, but it will not ice you out.

Boeing uses CATIA for CAD and ENOVIA for their CAD parts data repository.
I know its still in use by (one of?) the largest plastic bottle companies
I had to use it when I worked at an auto supplier. I even helped write training materials for the new Catia V6 version, which was somehow significantly worse than V5.

OTOH, Solidworks will report you to the authorities with a detailed description of every room in your house and the contents of your refrigerator.
I found out the hard way that they're very aggressive when it comes to unlicensed use. If your machine has a wireless card they'll even use that to triangulate your location.
