  • Brush: Yaqi 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Karve CB OC C
  • Blade: UK Tech Statum
  • Lather: Spearhead - Black Watch - Soap
  • Post Shave: Spearhead - Black Watch - Aftershave

Ok shave. The OC plate bites sometimes.

Black Watch++;

It's been forever since I've last used my Karbe CB OC. If I find the plate, I'll use it soon.

Works great if I have a couple days of growth but I seem to struggle day after day shaving with it.

Superior Ford

  • Brush: Zenith 506U N (50/50 horse mane/tail)
  • Razor: Dovo Bismarck 2 (7/8″, full hollow, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Wholly Kaw La Supérieure Dulci Tobacco
  • Aftershave: Stirling Soap Company Haverford
  • Fragrance: Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille

Fully indulging my tobacco sweet tooth with this one again, but this time without yesterday evening's smokey distraction. I don't care for the WK shaving cream base, mostly because of its lacklustre performance (IMO, MOIMO, YMMV, YKMV, etc), but the Dulci Tobacco scent is right up my alley, and Haverford and its original have a religious following in Casa Djundjila (except for my wife, who's kinda over it and Djunior who doesn't care).

The Bismarck keeps sparking joy. It stays.

The Bismarck keeps sparking joy. It stays.

I learned a lot from the Bismarck. To summarize most of what I said in my sharpening video, I think that the razor apex does not fare well on impact with embedded abrasive particles in whetstones, but is formed more cleanly when abrasive slurry is used as a cushion, and when torque towards the apex is kept light when using leading edge strokes. I came to this conclusion after successfully honing my Bismarck on softer synthetic stones (6K Suehiro Cerax, 8K Naniwa Snow White, 12K Naniwa Superstone) using primarily trailing edge strokes.

  • Razor: Ever Ready 1914
  • Blade: GEM Single Edge Stainless
  • Brush: Vie-Long #13051M
  • Lather: Mike’s Natural Soaps Orange, Cedarwood & Black Pepper
  • Aftershave: Barber No3 Marmara
  • Additional Care: Alum Block

Another wonderful Wednesday shave, with a soap that reminds me of an orange soda.

  • Brush: Brad Sears Scotsman XL 28mm Super Badger

  • Razor: Wade & Butcher Celebrated 13/16 Near Wedge (Straight Shave 373)

  • Lather: Wholly Kaw - Amber Bomba - Soap

  • Post Shave: Wholly Kaw - Amber Bomba - Toner

  • Post Shave: Thayers - Lavender - Toner

A very comfortable, but not particularly close shave on this Wholly Wednesday. Amber Bomba cannot be beat. This soap/scent is top-tier for me.

  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers "Coffee & Cream" with DG B1
  • Razor: Personna BBS-0
  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (7)
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Hamami - Soap
  • Post Shave: Noble Otter - Logbook - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Harry's - Aftershave Balm

I was ready to write this Harry's balm off after testing how it felt on my hands... but it's actually not too greasy on my face so far. Promising!

I loaded heavily, and got a good lather. Good 3 pass shave.

Have a good evening!

Citrus Overload

  • Brush: Zenith 506U N (50/50 horse mane/tail)
  • Razor: Dovo Bismarck 2 (7/8″, full hollow, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Ariana & Evans l'Orange Verte
  • Aftershave: Barrister and Mann Cheshire
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! Sea Spice Lime

Earthy citrus, followed by citrus and tea, followed by citrus and spice. I am thoroughly refreshed.

Both l'Orange Verte and Sea Spice Lime have bergamot and oakmoss notes, but that's where the similarity ends and SSL is much fresher, livelier. A good happy note to end with 😊

  • Brush: Brad Sears Scotsman XL 28mm Super Badger
  • Razor: Gillette Slim Aristocrat H4 (setting: 4)
  • Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (3)
  • Lather: Wholly Kaw - Cedrati - Soap
  • Post Shave: Fabergé - Brut - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Thayers - Lemon - Toner

Wholly Kaw has been good to me today. Cedrati and the Slim Adjustable Aristocrat gave me a very close, comfortable, relaxing shave this evening. Also, that big 28mm badger builds lather easily and feels like a cloud. Perfect!
