#Morocco has awarded a special 'gift of friendship' to the commander of the Israeli Air Force, who is in charge of bombing the #Gaza Strip on a daily basis.

A revolt against the Israeli-backed Moroccan dictator is needed. Critical support for Algeria.

@geneva_convenience sadly the majority have no problem with the current king.

Anyone who has a problem with their 'king' gets thrown in jail. I'd imagine Israel is providing the social media monitoring software to arrest dissidents for the Morroccan dictator.

@geneva_convenience it's easy to justify complicity of the people because of fear.

I live in south of France with large number of Moroccans living here.

These people are out of reach of the dictator but chosing to stand behind, support and ignore the ongoing genocide

I have seen a few video's of large Moroccan protests against the Israeli normalization, especially at the harbor.

I think this is a question of Morroccans not knowing what their government is up to. They need to be better informed.

A lot of these countries require themselves to free themselves from their dictatorship before they can free Palestine. But they are very much unaware.

@geneva_convenience I understand how it feels to live under a brutal dictatorship. I lived under 2 of them.

Problem I have with Moroccans, Saudis, UAEs and sadly most of the other Arab nations, is that they don't even act when they live in western democracies.

Having their education system taken over, being fully indoctrinated with European exceptionalism, and having their own culture fully banned for generations will do that.

They now believe that all they need to do to become as rich as Europe is to ban headscarves and open nightclubs. It is akin to the culture war in America which is used to deflect from any class warfare movement.

What is still exceptional is the influence which you can notice in Spain in its solidarity with Palestine. Far more than the rest of Europe. Which likely stems from its period of Caliphate rule. It is exceptional how far the reach of the past goes.

@geneva_convenience

It's easy blaming everything on government, but I have had very unpleasant discussions with store owners of north African origin and my former co-workers about their lack of action, refusal to participate in something as simple as boycotting Israeli products.

They all talk about supporting Palestinians but something simple like not selling Israeli dates or jafa fruits gets them angry and upset.

Were they young people or boomers?

[–] faab64@freefree.ps 2 points 1 day ago

@geneva_convenience I have no idea what the Fuck does that mean.
They are people of all ages, some lived most of their adult lives in France

@geneva_convenience

Some go even further in their disgusting hypocrisy and pretend those products are made in Spain or Morocco.

I've skimmed through it and it was an interesting history. Recently protests have started again but what people need more than anything is awareness that the Morroccan king is so deep in bed with Israel. This is worse PR than anything ever.

Protesters want Morocco to sever ties with Israel, so they’re targeting strategic ports

[–] Sandouq_Dyatha@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

if the protests were a threat to the current monarchy they would've shot them already, the ruling class has the power of making their country a blacksite for the U.S. and the the guard between Africa and Europe, no one will care if there's protests in Morocco
