President Donald Trump’s attempts to force Beijing back to the negotiating table by piling “extreme pressure” on the Chinese economy through a barrage of export controls are doomed to fail, analysts said.

Washington has unveiled new curbs on the sale of jet engine and chip design technologies to China in recent days, as Trump insisted in a social media post that he would no longer be “Mr Nice Guy” on trade.

Trump has absolutely no idea what to do when someone refuses to cooperate with his bullying style.

He threatened China, China gave him a dismissive wanking gesture in return.

The net result of Trump's antics, is that the cost of living went up sharply for Americans, and supply chains for American industry have been disrupted.

He only has one move, and if you ignore it, he'll cave.

Also, he has no idea how the economy works.

Also, he has no idea how the economy works.

No, no. You see, he understands it perfectly: as the leader of the whole world and top teacup poodle in the bull pen, it works the way he says it works. And if it doesn't, that's because of somebody else. Successful businessmen and master negotiators are simply incapable of being wrong about anything. The thought of anything else is so utterly incomprehensible and impossible that it simply isn't real—like the earth being round, or women having rights. ^/s^

Kinda strange that the SCMP won’t say which analysts say this. Granted, broken clock and all that. Or this.

Are they still screening his calls? He should know that's a bad sign.
