Katz said on Sunday that the blockade was essential to Israel’s national security as it seeks to destroy Hamas. “The State of Israel will not allow anyone to break the naval blockade on Gaza, whose primary purpose is to prevent the transfer of weapons to Hamas,” he said.

Well, if that's true (big "if" 😑), search the ship for weapons and let it through when you don't find any.

Edit: Now that I think about it, that would be a really obvious PR win for Israel that wouldn't cost them anything. "Look at us, we're not doing a genocide, we're letting supplies through!" Once again, their bullheaded belligerence and vicious genocidal bloodlust wins out.

I guess anything in the past can be considered archeological. Plenty of evidence out there that israel armed hamas in the beginning. Of course no evidence will be enough for some since pretending it didn't happen is eaiser.

BBC said they (Israel) wrote:

But in a post on X early on Monday, the Israeli foreign ministry said: "While Greta and others attempted to stage a media provocation whose sole purpose was to gain publicity - and which included less than a single truckload of aid - more than 1,200 aid trucks have entered Gaza from Israel within the past two weeks, and in addition, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has distributed close to 11 million meals directly to civilians in Gaza. "There are ways to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip - they do not involve Instagram selfies."

Wow. What a prick.

“I have instructed the IDF [Israel Defense Forces] to act so that the hate flotilla … does not reach the shores of Gaza – and to take all necessary measures to that end,” Katz said in a statement.

The Hate flotilla? FUCK EVER LAST ONE OF THESE BLATANTLY LYING MOTHERFUCKERS WITH A PINEAPPLE BACKWARDS!!! I don't know how but we need to completely end the careers of everyone who tries to twist shit around like this.

Make Lying Bad Again.

"To the antisemitic Greta and her fellow Hamas propaganda spokespeople, I say clearly: You should turn back—because you will not reach Gaza," Katz said, referring to Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, one of the 12 people on board. "Israel will act against any attempt to break the blockade or assist terrorist organizations—at sea, in the air, and on land."

I really don't like the post-truth world :(.

I really don’t like the post-truth world :(.

Seems to me we've gotten way past "post-truth" and are fully in the realm of "anti-truth"...

Anti-truth, anti-science, anti-knowledge, anti-reason, anti-rational, anti-human, .... ?!?!

[–] puppinstuff@lemmy.ca 85 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

I’m worried for my girl Greta. But she has nerves of steel staring down the IDF.

[–] Epzillon@lemmy.world 8 points 5 hours ago

Shes the type of person who would immediately board another ship and do it again

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 26 points 19 hours ago

True boss bitch shit!

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 126 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

Godspeed, Greta. Hope this isn't the last we see of you and hope you don't go the way of Rachel Corrie.

EDIT: Also, godspeed to everyone else on that ship, too, of course, not just the famous person.

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 64 points 21 hours ago

Isreal is a terrorist state that must be stopped.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 47 points 21 hours ago

Israel really concerned about the extent of their genocide becoming more known. They're all in on this disgusting Nazi behavior

[–] Kben@lemm.ee 26 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

As we have seen in the past year these bloodthirsty savages can do what they want and get away with it.Im really concered for the safety of all them brave people aboard the flotilla.

[–] huppakee@piefed.social 8 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I think israel will be more careful with non-palestinians. Not saying they will let them stop the genocide, but can't imagine Israel doing the people on the flotilla like they did the ambulance workers. But I have been wrong before, so i'm concerned for their safety too.

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 10 points 14 hours ago

It's the second attempt for Greta. The first ship was sunk, probably by a drone. This time there is more press coverage though, so maybe this time they won't risk killing anyone.

[–] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 16 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

How does the IDF know a third party navy isn't surveilling and recording what is happening if not just for the crude leverage the evidence carries?

I feel like you could throw a stone off of Greta's ship and it would hit intelligence gathering UUVs from 3 different nations.

I would bet money UUVs are crowding that boat like an audience following a golfer at a tournament, if only to see who you bump into in the crowd ya know?

[–] huppakee@piefed.social 5 points 14 hours ago

if IDF harms them it will more likely be the isreal equivalent of falling from a window. More likely they will arrest them at gunshot and sink the ship. In that case the west doesn't need video evidence as it has eyewitness testimonies. Let's hope they are not betting on a single horse here.

I wish Israel Katz and Bibi would fall down some long hard stairs...a few times.
