RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

Successfully making a good cup of coffee is a good start to my day.

I use, in rotation:

  • a French press
  • an aeropress
  • a cucumella
  • a moka pot

Sometimes things go perfectly, sometimes something unexpected happens, and I have to figure out how to roll with it.

Sometimes I just screw around with the factors to try something different: Changing the brew time, paper filter vs metal filter, crack open a new bag of beans or grounds, etc.

It's not the most complex of tasks, nor the most important, but it's something that is solvable.

I take my wins where I can. Here are some things that help.

When my previous day's todo list is completed.

Fresh linen day.

When stuff is in its place.

Being able to drink my morning drink in peace.

A clean counter.

When my clothes and lotion don't give me texture issues.

Recently, as little as a simple "thank you" or acknowledging that I exist, am human and have value makes my day. Too bad in the corporate hellscape I work for it's quite rare to get even that...

Getting laid

Waking up feeling refreshed and actually rested was a nice change of pace this morning. I did a lot this weekend so I was supremely exhausted Sunday evening. Started watching some Youtube content about the recent GPU releases and fell asleep far before my normal bedtime. Woke up in the morning with YT still running on some absolutely unhinged niche rabbit hole about battle strategies of various skirmishes during WW2, which is completely unrelated to any content I ever consume lol.

Browning food to perfection. Specially when it's the bottom of something I can't flip, like frittata.

When I’m by myself:

Going to sleep.

When I’m with my kids:

A random hug, or one of them wanting to lay with me on the couch.
