The Isles of Scilly, off the coast of Cornwall, are also car-free.

But even in destinations where cars are allowed, you seldom need a car if you're a tourist.

If you speak French you can consider Guadeloupe as a possibility.

Of course there's cars everywhere but it's entirely possible to travel there without a car.

There are municipal buses from the airport to multiple cities. There are also ferries to go to the multiple islands. The island of Marie-Galante can be cycled, and is very nice.

I spent a few days in Le Gosier, Pointe-à-Pitre and Grand-Bourg, and I never needed a car.

On the opposite side, avoid SXM.

When I was a kid we used to go to Mürren, Switzerland.

Being car free meant that our parents allowed us to roam freely.

I have very fond memories of it; not just of the village itself. We did a lot of hiking. Have a look

That is a beautiful place, but with my tennis skills, I would serve it right off that cliff

I remember thinking about that when I was a kid! That court is also the closest I ever got to the precipice. Here it is seen from the valley.
