a good chunk of them would also suffocate and people would be very angry at you

Actual fun fact though you can fit every planet in the solar system between the earth and the moon at the same time. Unlike this photo it's actually really far off.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Except the tidal forces from all those planets and Jupiter would probably be unpleasant

[–] myotheraccount@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

And the elephants won't like that either

To get a sense... take any ball as a scale model of Earth and roll it 10 times in one direction. That would be the scale distance to the moon.

[–] otacon239@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Man, that would have to be something like 31.415926535897932384626433832795028841971693993751058209749445923078164062862089986280348253421170679 times the earth’s diameter…

Well, approximated to some extent, yes.

Roll it how far each time? Are you saying roll 10x the distance of itself / i.e 10 complete rotations?

[–] nexguy@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

Yes, 10 circumferences. Earth is about 24,000 miles in circumference. Moon is more than 240,000 miles distant.

Except for Dennis, but Dennis is a freak

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 18 hours ago

Because of the implication?

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 7 points 23 hours ago

Bullshit ... would he falling down so hard, along with shit from the female elephants as well.

[–] Lembot_0003@lemmy.zip 5 points 23 hours ago

If we had a reason and the ability to stack all elephants on top of each other, we wouldn't ask about their opinion on the process.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Many of them would die due to a lack of oxygen.

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 1 points 11 hours ago

assuming the stack didn’t fall over due to crushed elephants dying or asphyxiated elephants … how big of a sweet spot on the elephant space ladder do you think there is where they’re not getting squished and not asphyxiating?

Still a better technical concept for getting to the moon than Starship.
