Are they though? Ever look into the conservative subreddit or other conservative spaces? No sign of anyone turning on Trump.

So sick of the media saying "any day now".

The conservative spaces aren't a great barometer of what people think. I bet it's like an 8 bots to 2 humans ratio. There are a lot of bots in those spaces repeating the same things over and over.

To be fair, isn't that a some kind of poe's law thing? How do you detect the difference between conservatives repeating each other or bots doing it? Ever met a conservative with an original thought?

Ever met a conservative with an original thought?

Man, this one really gets to me because I've seen it first hand how, even hours after something happens, conservachimps will repeat certain words and phrases that give away where they're getting their info from.

And don't get me started on how everyone is now repeating the stupid Trumpian phrases phrases like "believe me" every now and then. "Sad!" Ugh. 🙄

Everything's computer

I have family, one of them a doctor, who are still republicans. I think you can tell if it's a bot or not. Do they sound drunk? Not a bot. Do they sound passionate? Not a bot. Saying talking points word for word? Probably a bot. Racist? 50/50, the bots know that that's honey. It's kind of like uncanny valley, you can just tell.

Although, to your point, the bots are getting better.

Those places are heavily moderated to keep things on Trump's side. On some posts that criticize him you can go into the comments and just see 50 [deleted] comments with a fuck ton of upvotes and 4 or 5 that are celebrating with negative votes. I saw a post on reddit about this exact thing and everyone that commented was pissed off. I'm sure if I go back now most of them will be deleted.

Not that it would matter. They'll still zombie walk to the polls and vote for whoever has the little "R" after their name.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 37 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I keep hearing republicans are turning on him but his approval among repubs goes up every week. Weird how both can be true at the same time.

He could kick them out of their houses, empty their bank accounts to give it to billionaire, and make them sleep in a ditch and they would lick his boots as long as he keeps sending troops to LA. They have a hardon for cruelty. As long as someone they hate has it worse than them they will keep cheering no matter what he does to them.

I think it's like how everyone hated Biden/Harris, but there was a common sentiment to vote for them anyway because they're better than the alternative.

[–] salacious_coaster@infosec.pub 45 points 4 days ago (2 children)

No the fuck they aren't. They'll be over it by tomorrow.

[–] doc@fedia.io 13 points 4 days ago

Exactly. Headlines all too often portray groups as monoliths, applying the opinion of some as being the opinion of all.

I'm sure some are disagreeing, but I highly doubt all, or even a majority, disagree. Give the spin machine some time to do it's work and before you know it many will cheer the demise of Juneteenth, labor day, and MLK day.

Can't trick me 300 times! The 299th time was the last!

[–] The_Che_Banana@beehaw.org 29 points 4 days ago (1 children)

So this is about....lesseeee....about the 23rd article I've seen where 'MAGA TURNS ON TRUMP' or some other bullshit like that.

Cultists don't turn on their cult.

[–] wildncrazyguy138@fedia.io 13 points 4 days ago

I wish he would go back to touting that they should drink bleach.

[–] NotAGamer@lemmy.org 28 points 4 days ago

That's because it will affect them too, not just black and brown people.

[–] bieren@lemmy.zip 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Trump could tells these fuckers to send their 5 year olds to work 20 hour shifts in a coal mine, 7 days a week and they would still cheer for the orange cheeto.

[–] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 4 points 3 days ago

not an hypothetical, they are literally eroding child protections to let cheap children work in dangerous jobsites

His dog whistle was too high income for them to hear. He's gotta be cognizant that shitting on the minorities is only effective when you don't accidentally attack the people you're trying to court.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 7 points 4 days ago

Lol! "Screw you, peasants! Get back to work!" /s

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 4 days ago

He looks constipated in that photo.
