The Crane Fly also gets called a Mosquito Hawk:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crane_fly

In colloquial speech, crane flies are known as mosquito hawks or "skeeter-eaters", though they do not actually prey on adult mosquitos or other insects.[7][8] They are also sometimes called "daddy longlegs", a name which is also used for arachnids of the family Pholcidae and the order Opiliones. The larvae of crane flies are known commonly as leatherjackets.[7]

That's not a mosquito, it's a harmless mosquito hawk, aka crane fly. Not a risk to humans, lives off grass roots.

...and the first year of Trump's term isn't even done yet!

Why does it look like the pasta sauce was added after the fact then? Like it doesn't even look like it's been sitrred in at all, it's just kind of sitting there.

Put dry leaves on fire, follow clues after noticing small effects.

So that's where to drop bombs!

Poor people hardly ever die on luxury yatchs. Going barefoot is associated with a greater potential for foot injuries. Reading on a screen more is associated with eye strain.

Anyone can make up these claims, it doesn't make them medically causal facts, and the people involved in this paper should be embarrassed and suffer some loss of credibility.

Authors who use behavioral correlations as the basis of their studies are more likely to lose credibility.

Scotland could easily get massive forests again, they're just not bothering for some reason.

Good of Japan to step in.

The Government: "Okay, just keep having money and we won't crack down on you!!"

Okay, you have the sniper assassin job.

Labor is dead.

Journalist Antoinette Lattouf was awarded A$70,000 and possibly more in damages after the public broadcaster wrongly dismissed her under Zionist lobby pressure for sharing a social media post critical of Israel's conduct  in Gaza, reports Joe Lauria.

Lattouf v. ABC ruling. Judge finds that Aust https://consortiumnews.com/2025/06/24/australian-reporter-wins-suit-against-abc-over-anti-semitic-post/

Currently if I paste a link to a Lemmy.World post on reddit, the user is taken to the comments section - and the image post (eg. the point of the actual link), is a tiny thumbnail.

This is now how to get people to cross over to Lemmy and other federated services.

The sidebar should be behind a link or tab.

We desperately need a "disable inbox replies" feature, or at least a place we can turn ALL notifications off.

The "search -> for communities" drop down, should just take you to the communities list (which has a search bar, and actual links to the communities, rather than a directory of them).

Does anyone have any more they'd like to list in the comments?

Does Friendica for instances, have something like Facebook Messenger going on? What would be the best for real time communication on both phone and desktop?
