Jokes aside, no they aren't "defending Reddit from AI" they are defending exclusivity on monetizing their users and their user's content

Reddit made an exclusive AI content deal with Google last year. This isn't about protecting the users or data, it's about protecting that exclusivity.

Not even gonna bother reading - why should I care? They let their mods run rampant, the admins help them & don't GAF about anything but keeping the free labor mods doing whatever the fuck they want to users, no matter how unfair or nonsensical it is. The site is shit. If Lemmy can't catch on, then I sure AF hope the Digg reboot due any day now buries their asses. All Digg has to do is have moderators actually moderate (I know - it's radical to suggest the titles match the actions), have admin rules and staff that are actually fair to all involved, and enforce fair and progressive banning steps - it shouldn't be possible to jump straight to permanent bans, and there should be a working, fair, and permissive appeal process. If they manage that, then I'm sure they'll take a good chunk of Reddit's base.

Fuck spez.
