Hey everyone, I was able to take home 2 of the above rack mount servers. I powered them up and hooked up a VGA cable to monitor (tested cable and monitor so I know both are good). I get nothing on the screen, the monitor falls asleep. These servers used to be behind Fl's. They were basically shut down and now I have them (my work approved me taking these lol). Unfortunately, I do not have any of the IP information. I just purchased a RJ45 to USB connector to try and hook up to the management port on the back. Any suggestions on how to access? Before I took them home I did max them out with memory from other decommissioned nodes so I know the memory is compatible). I have 1.6TD SSD in slot one and 10 SAS 1.2TB in the rest. I read that maybe I need to change the node type? So that it can be accessed like a rack mount? I'm los and would love some advice! Thanks!

These things must be so loud and probably use a lot of power.

Check the power supplies, quite a few UCS chassis will only operate at 208/240v. Also check that the CPU/RAM weren't scavenged by a sticky-finger tech lol

RJ45 to USB for management console… on carpet.

🤦‍♂️

My brain hurts. Please stop.

Wait until you find out I forgot to push the power button! 🤣🤣

There’s a RJ45 management port, also serial on front. Also, it’s not plugged in. I was checking them before I put them in my enclosed rack. Which I started this morning.

I just dragged a mobo across carpet for you :)

Don’t these need different controllers for standalone use? The VIC used for connection to FI’s is a different piece of hardware I believe.
