Weed is a stimulant. I've always had trouble sleeping and people have always suggested weed, and I've always told them it doesn't help because it's a fucking stimulant and makes it harder to fall asleep and they look at me like I'm the crazy one.

Different terpenes have different effects though. People can use weed to stop themselves having seizures.

So, specific terpenes might make people sleepy? Even if that's the case, it still increases their heart rate. So the people who get stoned before bed have elevated heart rates while sleeping, which could cause adverse effects on sleep quality. I'm no sleep expert so I don't know if a higher heart rate while sleeping is an issue, though.

Yep plenty of people use it for sleep, myself included. And I don't have a lot of knowledge on the physical effects of weed (so still do your own research, don't take a random internet persons words as fact) but as the sleep quality thing goes, I think you are right in that. But I also think it depends on the person. Like for instance you may get worse sleep quality sure, but might find it hard to sleep at all. If the weed does get you to sleep but with not as good quality, then that's better than no/only a little sleep right? Also with tolerance most people don't get the increase in heart rate as much. ROA is a factor too, like you'd be better off taking than edible than having a smoke to get to sleep and stay asleep.
