For many people, especially the Lemmy crowd, the topic is reprehensible. The vegan communities have 100 times as many members as this carnivore one. It's good to have diversity of opinions on the internet but I think this is a case where the evidence is overwhelming against carnivores and it shouldn't have its own community. These discussions should go in existing communities.

The meat industry is well known to be bad for the environment simply due to its scale.

I don't care about this section but it has to be said. The industry is well known to be cruel to animals throughout their lives. And they are kept purely for the purpose of killing them. For a lot of people this is reason enough to block this community.

Additionally most people are more healthy when they eat a majority or fully vegetarian diet. Assuming they don't just eat carbs all day. Carnivore diets have been studied and shown to increase the risk of several diseases.

I agree that if you're vegan, blocking this community is the right thing to do, in the same way I block every meme community on the fediverse. It likely doesn't have any practical value, although the science will probably still be of interest.

No disagreement from me here. But is it not also true that monoculture is bad for the environment? I don't wish to do any whataboutism but I think the problem is industrial agriculture.

Animal cruelty

Again, no disagreement from me here. I do my best to avoid meat from industrial agriculture and always buy from local farmers when possible.

Carnivore diets have been studied and shown to increase the risk of several diseases.

Could I trouble you to provide the studies so I can further read up on the topic? As a somewhat-counterpoint, nutrients are more highly bio-available from (preferably non-grain-fed) animal sources, and traditional diets exist that are primarily meat-based.

I think also that veganism for the sake of personal health has the exact same goals as carnivore, but due to dogma all discussion of animal nutrients will be downvoted on existing communities especially considering how they are even downvoted here. If your aim isn't the tyranny of the masses, then carnivore should have its own community.

I can see why you might think that. But it's not rage bait at all.

It's the ancestral human diet, that we've been eating for at least 2 million years. It's just such a large departure from the modern Western diet, people are incredulous.

On Lemmy there is about 10 people who talk about carnivore, and this community is for them to talk about it. I'm doing it myself, earnestly, I've seen great improvements, and I want to talk about the thing I'm doing. That's why I've made this community

When I find something interesting, or I read something, or a reference in a book, that I want to remember I post it here.

I don't know if you watched Ms Brown's video, but she's clearly not rage baiting, she's committing to a lifestyle. And that's a big step for somebody. It's nice to see other people committing, and makes it easier for you to commit. You can look at her other videos, she was suffering from a lot of issues, and they've improved while she's been on this diet. You can see it in her body over time
