The US is a rogue state. We have to de-yankify everything.

You say that as if the entire western world (with one or two exceptions) isn't behind them on this.

[–] Samsuma@lemmy.ml 4 points 4 days ago (2 children)

out of curiosity, which Western states are the exception? I genuinely can't think of any.

Ireland is the one that comes to mind.

Most of what they're doing is symbolic at best, imo. The trade ban recently introduced only applies to the 1949 borders, so trading with the rest of the zionazi entity is still fair game somehow, if I'm reading this right..:

The Irish government approved Tuesday, May 27, the drafting of a bill to ban the import of goods from Israeli settlements considered illegal under international law, an unprecedented move for a European Union member.

The move comes after the International Court of Justice last year said Israeli occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip was illegal under international law, in an advisory opinion the Irish government said guided its decision.

They're also the 2nd largest trading partner with the entity. I don't think the neolibs there would throw away their yearly ~3 billion check.

Also, Ireland hosts like most of the US tech companies, so anything so much as threatens US' $$$, which among other things relies on these imports, will lead to Ireland being put in check:

Well that sucks. I guess Yemen continues to be the only principled country.

Spain and Ireland appear to put up significant resistance.

[–] Samsuma@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

see my reply below for the case of Ireland. Spain appears to be somewhat better out of the two, though..

They did have Clary Daly blasting Israel in the European Parliament while wearing a tracksuit so that was hillarious. Spain is putting up significant resistance despite heavy lobbying from the rest of Europe.

Thanks for the article btw. This is very interesting

Francesca Albanese, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 is a woman who wakes up every morning thinking "today someone might mind my rapporteuring and do something".

In the future she will be noted and quoted as someone who should've been listened to.

Why would a woman of such dignity debase herself by visiting the US?

The UN headquarters are in New York.

[–] faxed@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

Fair point. If mamdani is elected mayor of new York, he has promised to apply the outstanding arrest warrants to netanyahu and nab his ass should he set foot in NYC.

Trump is terrified of the truth and its triumph over his treasonous trickery.

this is a bipartisan export of your freedomness, it doesn't rest solely on one party.

Very alliterative comment.
