Last night, the nine-member NEA executive committee voted against severing ties with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) over claims of how it treated organizations critical of Israel.

“Today, following the culmination of a thorough review process as governed by NEA rules, including a vote by NEA’s Executive Committee earlier this week, NEA’s Board of Directors—representing the broad and diverse membership of the NEA, including representatives from every state—voted not to implement this proposal,”

This comes after, in early July, at the NEA Representative Assembly, when representatives voted not to partner with the ADL after accusations of anti-Arab rhetoric.

If the executives can override a union vote, you're not in a functioning union.

I suggest ousting the executives

Who has the power? Not the teachers

Since the red scares, almost all unions in the US have been captured, because the communists were purged from the labor unions. The IWW is a rare exception to the rule.

Communist Control Act of 1954

The Communist Control Act of 1954 was originally proposed as an amendment to the Internal Security Act of 1950, which had sought to combat the spread of communism in labor unions.

No one remembers the communists’ contributions to the labor movement these days. It’s a buried history.

As a retired teacher the local and regional reps need to send it up the chain that this is unacceptable.

That's right. Corruption is how fascist union busting got a foothold. There should be no executives, leaders should be voted on and limited to terms, subject to recall.

The "factory owners" as it were forgot why unions were established. When employees felt they were being treated unfairly, they would do things like murder the rich people and their families.

Unions were to stop that sort of thing, so words could be used.

If you override the union vote, its not a union, but it may be time that the "factory owners" are reminded of why unions were needed.
