A place to discuss and call out mod abuse on Lemmy (or elsewhere if you really want to), or power trips

A more free speech alternative to !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com and !modabuse@lemmy.sdf.org

  1. Revealing the mods identities is authorized
  2. Don't harass people
  3. Explain the situation and context, explain why you think this is abusive
  4. Avoid brigading, prefer boycotting
  5. Avoid trolling, !modabuse@lemmy.sdf.org is a better place for this
  6. Meta (posts about this community) are authorized

MODERATORS

I just found out that there's a local mod abuse community. Cool!

A lemmy.ml admin (https://lemmy.ml/u/cypherpunks) censored blasphemy, claiming rule 1 "No bigotry - including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia".

Here is the original comment: https://lemmy.zip/comment/20729770 and post: https://lemmy.ml/post/34489826

The admin also censored this image: https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/39f58cfd-d6b7-4fdc-bbf6-b8c4b465c423.png (see here: https://i.ibb.co/YFHb5KxK/image.png)

I am not sure if everyone agrees with me, but I believe blasphemy should be a right. Blasphemy isn't bigotry!

That's a new one. Cool.

And yeah just don't participate in ml or this will happen every time you say something they don't like.

It's unfortunate, they have good content there, sometimes...

Crosspost anything you find interesting to a non-tankie equivalent community.

[–] Electricd@lemmybefree.net 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That’s an interesting way to do it

The issue is ml was the biggest instance for a while, so a lot of comms there became the "default" ones. The idea is to build alternative comms so people aren't forced to interact with ml. cm0002 is leading the charge on this. They did a whole breakdown on why you shouldn't interact with ml but I can't find it at the moment, but feel free to check out meanwhileongrad for an idea of how common moderation like this is on ml.

Block ml and move on. They are bent and its no surprise they don't know bigotry is.

They have many communities that are interesting

There are many instances I don’t agree with. Unfortunately not interacting with them means losing a lot of content

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh well, I don't miss any of it.

Just got banned from all the .ml communities I interacted with by dessalines lol

Rule 1, 4

so "bigotry" and "ads/spamming" even though I didn't do any of that

They have that echo chamber thing going where anything they don't like is called something bad. Either they don't know what bigotry really is or they know they are just making up a reason. Either way I have no use for children's tantrums.

I’ve heard similar things from blahaj.zone

Seems to be something frequent on Lemmy, sadly

Its the childishly simple result of people who can't accept that their opinions are just that, their opinion. They really don't know what the words they are calling people mean since they have no capacity to look at things any way other than emotionally. They feel some way about things and since they feel it they can't imagine it could be any other way.

Everyone has things that cause their emotions to out pace their reason. If you are mindful of this you can spot it in yourself. Those that never question their motivations are the ones that end up like some of these mods. They want some kind of power over their life to offset how powerless they feel in the real. They take a fanatical hard line stance on something and lose perspective.

That’s a really nice explanation

I hope I don’t end up like this
