Since the goal is soil, I'm a little surprised they don't actively promote the spread, and then burn it all down. Y'know, seed some rows leading the front, so it fills in and gets there faster. And then burn it. That's not adding extra carbon to the atmosphere aside from whatever's in the accelerant. Roll through with some all-terrain lawnmower set to scalping height, wait for the mulch to dry out a bit, torch the whole area, and then take a flamethrower to any stragglers.
Being thorough is important because this invasive species is easy to separate so long as it's bright fucking purple.
