David Roche decided to run the Leadville 100 ultra on short notice with the goal to just finish, ghe explained in a subscriber only podcast the night before the race. He expected it to be at least 30 mins slower than his last year's course record. Instead, he beat it by 14 minutes.

Quite an accomplishment and definitely a mental boost after his DNF as WSER this year.

6:20 (or even 6:48) miles in a 100 mile race is crazy to me. Let alone after the mid-point. Just hard to imagine being at that level.

And judging by his shorts, he did not chafe his penis bloody this time around. Maybe that's how he was faster :D
