I wish they would build a 7" Pixel tablet.

After 3 years of using a pixel 6a, I just went back to Samsung and bought an s25. So many little bugs. No DAC ever worked properly on the pixel, screen sometimes didn't respond even when I felt I was bashing it. Even after I replaced it with an original one cos it fell in the bathroom and the final straw was the battery nerf. I'll Samsung bloat over shitty hardware.

i just want a Samsung hardware with bloat free os... witch is asking too much. My current pixel 7 is fine for my needs, but wish the battery could go longer.

OS bloat can mostly be fixed with ADB (terminal) or UAD (GUI).

At least for the foreseeable future, Google doesn’t imagine a scenario where users are carrying much more than their phone β€” whatever form that takes β€” while wearing a watch, earbuds and glasses

I don't want that AI crap, a shitty smartwatch or glasses or anything. Just a device big enough to read my PDFs, scribble a bit, play some games or read the newspaper while commuting.

The Pixel Tablet used with GrapheneOS is perfect for that. I really hope mine does hold up a few years, when Google has such a lack of imagination.

just. bring. back. the. nexus. line.

[–] JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

People keep saying this, but they could rename the pixel as "nexus" and it wouldn't change the phone.

The modern "nexus" phone would be the exact same as every other smartphone on the market right now..

yeah that's why i want the old nexus up to 7

Probably my favorite phone I've owned. The battery was shit though, before my 2 year contract was up the battery would die almost immediately if it was 30% or lower and exposed to cold temperatures for even a few minutes. Living in Northern Canada with long and cold winters made the phone unusable unless I carried a charger at all times during the last 6 months of my contract.

Bring back the rear finger print scanner while we're at it. Your screen would be unlocked and ready to use by the time you pulled it out of your pocket and it almost always worked flawlessly unlike the earlier in screen readers. My Pixel 6 felt like a 60-70% success rate on the first try.

Just upgraded to a P9 pro XL cause my P6 got spicy pillow syndrome sadly but the in screen reader finally feels almost as good as the old rear scanners. Still have to wait till it's out of your pocket to unlock it though :/

I'm not understanding "every 2-3 years" when the article states they're finalizing the Pixel 11s for 2026 and starting on the 12s for 2027.

also, no flip phones is disappointing but I wasn't looking for a reason to buy a pixel anyway.

Updates vs redesigns.

[–] tonytins@pawb.social 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So they're doing the Apple thing?

[–] passepartout@feddit.org 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Including the walled garden?

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Glad I got the 9 Pro, bro.

[–] cmgvd3lw@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How is the phone? Any thermal issues?

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Not for my use cases, no. None.

Wireless charging can get a little hot with a case on during summer.

I can imagine other uses will have it running hot though.

I really don't like the use of "pause" for all sorts of bullshit at the moment.
