You're a PVnRT aren't you 😏

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

Crank up the heat and put me under full body pressure, cuz I'm about to blow. 😏

[–] glowing_hans@sopuli.xyz 48 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

for those who do not get it, this is a reference to the ideal gas law pV = nRT the fact that at constant pressure and temperature the same number of gas molecules (ideal gas) will take the same Volume.

[–] Laser@feddit.org 3 points 23 hours ago

Thanks, I immediately recognized it as a formula but couldn't remember what it was for (in my defense, the last time it was relevant to me was about 15 years ago when I studied electrical engineering).

[–] FilthyShrooms@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Soooo... fill with premium?

[–] xthexder@l.sw0.com 1 points 21 hours ago

Definitely, that thing's supercharged, so more pressure = more heat = more knocking

[–] xthexder@l.sw0.com 6 points 1 day ago

Are there even any states that allow an = ? I bet they drew that on with sharpie

[–] ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works 38 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

You can have non-alphanumeric characters on license plates? What do the cops do if they need to catch you? Do they put out an APB for emoticons?

Like the guy with the NULL plate who got all the tickets for which no number could be found.

[–] null@lemmy.nullspace.lol 10 points 1 day ago

Truly a tragic tale.

This username means you also get "mentioned" a lot in big chatrooms where people post code/logs

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 4 points 21 hours ago

Honestly, as annoying as that'd probably be, it'd also be great. You could likely argue any ticket was a mistake.

[–] ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I read an article once about a guy who got a NO PLATE licence plate and ended up being automatically blamed whenever a cop wrote in that a car had no licence plate. I wonder what 0X00000 would do.

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 1 points 23 hours ago (1 children)
[–] ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works 1 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I think that's what I was actually thinking of but I mixed it up.

[–] xthexder@l.sw0.com 2 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

They both seem equally plausible. "NO PLATE" would be officers writing it in, and if they left it blank the computer would turn it into NULL.

I bet "BLANK" could cause similar issues

Little Bobby Tables got his driver's license.

Use the cyrillic letter А on your licence plate instead of the latin letter A. All your speeding tickets would be mailed to someone else

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It seems that everybody who doesn't know Cyrillic thinks that Π” is the Cyrillic A...

[–] xthexder@l.sw0.com 2 points 1 day ago

They already consider similar looking letters as the same. If someone has the license plate "OOPS" , if you try and register "00P5" it will say it's taken.

Meanwhile, the guy in ~~the slave labor camp~~ prison making your license plate: "Alright, thats an A, I'll key in an A here"

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

You do know the cyrillic A is just А(serbian) or А(russian)??

[–] Venator@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 day ago

Or the πŸ…°οΈ emoji

[–] HBK@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't think you can? But, you can use a space and add an equal sign sticker instead

[–] DontRedditMyLemmy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] xthexder@l.sw0.com 1 points 1 day ago

It might depend on the state, but I think anything other than registration stickers in the designated spot could count as a defaced license plate

[–] kippinitreal@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Which is, of course, fundamentally unideal if not antiquated.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah the Ideal Gas Formula is cool but what about the Ideal Electric?

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Would be even better if the capitalization was correct. Always bugs me when people capitalize units wrong, but in this case it might have been mandatory.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Have you ever in life seen lower case on a license plate? From any country?

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

I have never seen an equal sign on any licence plate or road sign. What is your point? I already mentioned that too.

Not from any countries that signed the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic

[–] thejoker954@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So this person's nickname is pervert, right? My brain just keeps turning it back to pervert lol

[–] otikireht@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 1 day ago

You saying this reminded me of my mom's old custom plate she had when she was a nurse. She had XOX PRN, which would mean "hugs and kisses, take as needed" on a prescription. A gas station attendant made a comment about her loving porn once and she ended up getting rid of it.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 day ago

Fucking nerds think you're so smart. Now excuse me, I need to figure out why my engine is knocking.

[–] j4k3@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Lotus Evora in Alabama? Wat?

If this plate is legit not photoshopped, it’s a strong possibility someone working at NASA MSFC drives it.

[–] three@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Are you only allowed to own certain cars in certain states?

[–] j4k3@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Super rare cars in the poorer states, where nonconformity is treated like cancer?

[–] three@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

They don't have big cities in those poor states? No bankers, or lawyers, or CEOs, or car collectors, or construction contractors? Only the conformation police apparently....

This picture is shopped!!

[–] thatradomguy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

In computer geek world, pv can stand for physical volume which is used in maybe something like LVM for Linux platforms. TMYK

[–] xthexder@l.sw0.com 3 points 1 day ago

I thought you were going to say Photovoltaic cells (solar panels)

[–] stevedice@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Pancho Villa, don't chicken out

[–] icelimit@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

Runs on neon or argon
