First time I’ve ever obtained edibles. They're like nerds or something?
Edibles hit me differently and stronger. If it's your first time with them, I'd go easy and start with 1/4 or 1/2 of a portion to see how they hit you personally.
They take about 45 minutes to an hour to kick in for me, and sometimes you have to say the magic incantation "These edibles ain't shit" for them to really get going lol.
You forgot the rest of the ritual, involving taking the rest of the edible. This lets the THC angels know you are serious, and you are blessed/cursed with a stone that lasts 12 to 16 hours.
There's nothing like saying "this ain't shit", then going to bed reasonably certain you're not waking up tomorrow, then waking up relaxed and high as mastodon balls.

In Canada (Quebec) you go to the government weed store which feels like an apple store, ask an expert and they recommend the weed based on the need you want to have and personal preferences. Like a sommelier for weed.
They had big screens with the catalogs and specialty items.
And yes. It is run by the government with high quality control.
