Update: walking the dog last night with the spouse, she points out the silhouettes of 4 raccoons illuminated in the light of the single street light on this dark street as they cross over to our side of the street. They're a half block away.

We turn around and circle around on a busier street with lots of light. Because, fuck no, I'm not even walking past the kits when the parents are with them.

I'm not much of one for clutching pearls, but what happens if the person feeding them can't do it any longer?

Weirdly, despite being surrounded by several dozen acres of woods, I've never seen a coon and only rarely seen tracks. And considering most trails are sand, and I track animals for fun, I'd notice.
