Crown Royal is owned by Diageo, which is a British multinational that owns a third of booze production on earth. They don't give a shit about anything other than pushing their next quarter's profits up.

Wait, corporations are not our friends? Damn man, never would have guessed /s

Honestly though it kind off sucks that many people like to pretend this.

Most? Feeling generous today are we?

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 weeks ago

I mean, you could start a corporation any time you want. Maybe you wouldn't be shitty?

I don’t often agree with Doug, but fuck Crown Royal for this.

They can get removed from our shelves like the US brands they so wish to be.

It's not hard to find yourself agreeing with the things DF says in public once in a while. That's exactly what he's trying to accomplish. He's a skilled politician and he's good at getting his face out and generating positive press when he's not actually doing anything.

When he's speaking in private and the actions he takes as Premier are a lot more damning.

Exactly this. DoFo is a populist, through and through. He will do whatever’s popular to keep himself in power, and also do more than most modern populists to make some people second guess their impression of him. This is why we must look at his policies to know what he really is.

when he’s not actually doing anything.

Exactly. He did nothing to try and prevent these jobs from going. So stupid stunts like this endear him to Ontario while he signs secret deals with tens of billions of tax dollars.

or my recent favorite: banning medical research on dogs, a year after he re-opened licences on penned hunting. And the media gives him a pass every time...not one mentioning Banting and Best discovered insulin in dog models.

I went to school with this cunt and his cunty family, AMA.

What are their weaknesses? Any personality traits we can take advantage of to remove Doug Ford in our broken voting system?

[–] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

The fascist narcissistic asshole ford is grand standing to keep eyes off how he is destroying Ontario.

He bought a bottle of crown royal to pour it out?

[–] glibg@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The article says he took it from his house.

[–] MooseWinooski@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

He says he doesn't drink and that's a full bottle of crown royal. One of the bigger bottles too.

You can tell Doug is lying becsuse his lips are moving.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He claimed. Could be a political stunt in which he purchased a new bottle, or could be an existing bottle in which he has bad taste in alcohol

or do drugs, but he exploits people who do, and he has been doing that since he was 14.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago

I would not be surprised if he kept one under his desk and already had it

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

The difference between the cost of 1 bottle, and a $740 million market, is actually quite large. Close to $740 million in fact.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 weeks ago

Right. While he did claim to have brought it from his house, I just think it’s weird if he had bought it to make a statement like buying books to burn instead of just not reading it. If he did indeed bring it from home, he has bad taste in alcohol.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

the rest of the cases are in is pickup truck, for further...uh...protest.

What's he trying to distract us from this time?

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Why is he so obsessed with alcohol?

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago

Because Ontario has a massive alcoholism problem in regions that love to vote for him. While he does populist shit like this over 200 jobs, he grafts $20B to the Vaughan mob over the 413. So what actually hurts Ontario?

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago

Just gonna leave this here for the alcohol obsessed PC voters:
