The effort involves several agencies that typically have little to do with wind power, including the Health and Human Services Department.

Old man literally yells at windmills.

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 15 points 2 weeks ago

Unfortunately, he's in a position of power, so it's more like old man breaks wind

Lil Donny Quixote, tilting at windmills

He wants to stop billion dollar projects because he has some weird vendetta against wind power. You know how many people's livelihoods are invested in this. Absolute asshole.

[–] mystik@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Wouldn't it be amusing if there are more jobs in wind (+ solar) power than in coal power in 2025?

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Part of the joke about coal mining is it has become highly automated. It is no longer a great source of jobs like it was and because of the automation the technical experience required is high. This means that the traditional coal miners no longer have the skill set to work in the mines.

That’s unpossible. Taco don said so

[–] baru@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

It's not a weird vendetta. He's been given some money to be against solar and wind.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

At least part of it goes back to his golf course in Scotland, and him not being able to get the offshore wind plant nearby shut down.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

He has been given money to make believe he has a vendetta? Sorry, but that is a little too convoluted for me.

If it was just simple corruption he wouldn't have started his anti-wind crusade before he became President when he sued the wind farm by his Scottish resort.

I strongly suspect he's getting bribes from coal and oil as well. he's 100% transactional.

I most don’t get the part at the end about sabotaging port facilities. For this and other renewables there’s some consistency in fighting this weird vendetta. But I don’t get the parts about closing off the possibility of American manufacturing. This seems so contrary to the claimed premise of bringing manufacturing back to this country. This is where they contradict not just reality but also themselves

We’ve hollowed out our economy with decades of outsourcing and it’s valid to do something about it (like with the chips act and infrastructure bills). And MAGAts claim they are. But how is actively sabotaging new manufacturing helping this goal?

Because his claims to care about "American jobs" are performative at best, is not in the white house to be a President, but to be a Grifter.
