Note that this is dated 8/27/2025. Yes, it is a very important document to see, in that it is concrete evidence that they're not just blowing smoke, but it's not "new".
This document refers to the "Chicago metropolitan area". This ordinarily means the "six county area", which includes Cook county (Chicago) and the five surrounding counties: DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will. In practice, today, this also includes parts of Grundy, Kendall, DeKalb (where Northern Illinois University is), maybe even bits of Kankakee, LaSalle, and Boone counties.
It is also worth noting that the "Chicago Area of Responsibility" appears to include:
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Wisconsin
- Kentucky
- Kansas
- Missouri
Right. As of yesterday, both Trump and Vance said that they are waiting for governors to request federal assistance before going in with troops.
