Incidentally, if anyone is looking for similar gameplay, there's a small project on steam, called Heroes of Science & Fiction. It's essentially HOMM3 with a scifi coat of paint and it's very enjoyable. Hoping it comes to gog too someday.

It’s one of the best games ever made and has aged uncommonly well.

Heh, it's because of regional pricing. But this shouldn't deceive you, it's just Team Cherry being generous here. The usual regional pricing would be like what's on Cyberpunk. However it's kinda rare. If everything had regional pricing like on Steam, I wouldn't buy anything from there.

Absolute masterpiece.

Also, for any HOMM3 fans who were unaware, GOG also lets you download Horn of the Abyss, a fantastic fan-made expansion that adds a lot of content, working multiplayer lobbies, and a lot of QoL enhancements (simultaneous turns until a player attacks another player, quick combat to bypass trivial fights, enhanced menus, etc).

Wow, the simultaneous turns is a game changer. I tried playing this at a LAN party a few years back and the slog of waiting for each player in a 6 player game did not bring back the nostalgia I had when it released some 20 odd years ago. If we had this mod it would have made it much more enjoyable!

I also highly recommend the HD mod too

100%! I should have mentioned, but Horn of the Abyss comes with the HD mod as well.

It does? Huh…. I guess I’ve had it installed so long that I forgot what the steps were.

It's an awesome game. I would buy it a 5th time if I had a store that had it.

seems like it is the best-selling game on GOG of all time, too
