Donald Trump has asked the EU to impose tariffs of up to 100% on India and China as part of an effort to force the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, to end the war in Ukraine, according to reports.

The US president made the demand during a meeting between US and EU officials discussing options to increase economic pressure on Russia on Tuesday, according to the Financial Times, BBC and Bloomberg, who cited sources familiar with the discussions.

One US official reportedly said that Trump administration was “ready to go, ready to go right now, but we are only going to do this if our European partners step up with us”.

Doubling down on sycophancy, over tariffs and 5% of GDP austerity to fund US military purchases/force amplification was never going to be "rewarded". Locking into extortionist US climate terrorist energy is inflationary, as is cutting off goods for people and loss of market access, and heavy borrowing caused interest hikes, is recessionary.

There is also zero chance of having an impact on Ukraine war. Russia is self sufficient in energy and raw materials. Declaring economic war on India and China is going to lose their neutrality in the conflict, including supplying Ukraine with energy and drone components. Telling that the US is taking a chickenshit approach of not going first, or not making the threats by tweet.
