I'm really confused as to why this is being treated so high profile considering he wasn't a politician or anything. It's almost like they're using this to promote their fascist agenda.

I have a feeling Thiel killed two birds with one stone: manufacturing a culture war martyr, and protecting his golden boy from being ousted. Not to mention the third bird of distracting from his connection to Epstein, which information was leaking about the same day just before Kirk was killed.
It seems inevitable that Vance will be taking the Presidency before 2028, considering Trump’s health, making him the defacto candidate for that side of the aisle if no one has enough support to oust him
They’ll never find the shooter, MAGA will be allowed to treat Kirk as a martyr, Vance will usurp Trump, and then Thiel gets everything he wants. Theres a hell of a lot of motive there for a guy who can certainly afford to put a hit on someone
A lot of this reminds me of the shooting of Pim Fortuyn in NL over two decades ago. He was very charismatic, a born demagogue, and he would've taken NL far-right twenty years before they, unfortunately, still went there. But who knows, maybe that shooter saved Europe from an earlier slide into fascism. No telling what ripple effects will still emanate from this entire situation.
