I was told this is a good book to understand dialectics. Is it worth reading? If not, I’m sticking with Maurice Cornforth.

No, he's a western chauvinist. I recommend reading Losurdo's western Marxism, which has a section on him, and this gabriel rockhill article: https://thephilosophicalsalon.com/the-cia-the-frankfurt-schools-anti-communism/
