Frankly this one is even better.

So the takeaway from this is invest in a company that promises better WiFi?

I'm confused. I know "Facebook AI who should I give my money to?"

Hahaha, heeheee, guffaw even.

What a total bonehead.

I bet they did not even do a test run.

Did no one tell them to pickup the phone receiver and yell into to get the modem going again? Oh ya it was the “wifi”.

Honestly, the "test run" thing is my first response too. One of the biggest names in tech doing a super hyped demo live and they didn't even do a dry run?

Or maybe they did do a dry run, and it worked, but because of AI variability it didn't work this time. Which is even funnier.

They couldn't because the whole point of AI is ability to reason. They rehearsed EVERYTHING they could without giving the impression the AI bit was also fake. And of course, that's the part that fail because the AI these assholes are selling to morons is a scam.

I think that's why there was the awkward dialog at the beginning and all the obvious labels. They were supposed to ask the AI to identify a recipe that could be made with these ingredients - an actually meaningful use for the setup they have there. But they couldn't get the linguistic slot machine to cooperate, so they tried to force in the context.

I wonder how many people Zuck yelled at later that day?

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 5 days ago

I wonder how many billions this cost them. Such a waste of money and talent.

I think the AI wanted to go off explaining that this recipe was from their maternal grandmother who used to also bake cookies on the homestead with the children running around and blah blah blah ... and then it got offended when cut off.

Oh, it could have gone worse. It didn't burst into flames.

ED-209 could've walked on stage.
